The island of Malta is undeniably small, yet it holds a variety of treasures, many of them exclusively accessible by the sea. Having previously visited the Coral Lagoon by land, I was left with a fascination of the turquoise water below and the urge to find out what was hiding under the waterline.

The location of the lagoon, being Malta's most northern point of the main island, makes it very susceptible to the weather conditions. While it being early in the spring we had our hopes up for stable weather, however due to increasing wind and a sea swell that came along with that we were bound to wait for a calmer day.

One week later the time had come, ideal weather conditions were just on the horizon. We took the opportunity, drove through dawn and let the kayaks in the water as the sun rose behind us.
